The Volunteers

The APS Volunteer Program (Get Involved) seeks to enable our volunteers to have the experience they want to have - this is how we feel they can contribute most effectively and teach us the most. If a volunteer has an idea on how to improve our work, that idea is likely to be used.

People from all backgrounds and walks of life, Spanish-speaking or not, have volunteered for APS. Here is just a small list of former APS volunteers and their contributions:

  • Jimmy Wallace: Performed the community diagnoses in the urban barrio Edgar Lang Sacasa
  • Rajnig and Marie: Completed a ‘Tuberculosis Project’ in Mulukuku
  • Susan Howe: Completed a ‘Pap Smear Project’ in Mulukuku
  • David Livingstone: Performed the community diagnoses of 25 rural communities in Tipitapa
  • Mathew Burke: Completed the community diagnoses of 20 rural communities in El Crucero, as well as the ‘Lorena Stove Project’
  • Kristine Nickel: Continues to coordinate the project with ‘Dos Generaciones’ in the barrio Acahualinca
